A vital part of today’s economy is based on the implementation of technology in order to systematically develop added value. Technology Entrepreneurship deals with the question, how technology based firms discover these business opportunities and how they can design and implement business models based on innovative technology without being able to access all needed resources within the own organization. The field of application consists of activities in existing technology based medium-sized and large companies as well as in start-ups, which lead to the exploitation of business opportunities and therewith to the fulfillment of existing customer needs.
To accomplish these goals, the research of the Chair of Technology and Entrepreneurship focuses on the interface of technology and economy. Thereby we concentrate on questions concerning Open Innovation, Strategic Partnerships and Networks, Corporate Entrepreneurship – especially Business Model Innovation – as well as national and regional innovations systems and publish the results regularly in leading scientific journals.
As the youngest team at the Institute of Entrepreneurship the chair works in close cooperation with technical universities and academies (particularly the ETH Zurich and the Interstate University of Applied Sciences of Technology Buchs), the free economy as well as public corporations (for example the Swiss Science and Technology Council).
Furthermore, we take a great interest in transferring the results of our researches to business and society. Our competencies concerning knowledge and technology transfer contain the process of product development and product management, the commercialization of technology, project management, Corporate Entrepreneurship as well as “Scouting” and the design and development of new business models. The Chair of Technology and Entrepreneurship imparts this knowledge through seminars, workshops and joint research projects with private enterprises and public corporations.
In the field of teaching we offer lectures, seminars and educational journeys focusing on Corporate Entrepreneurship, Technology and Entrepreneurship, Product Development, Project Management and Strategic Alliances.
