Application Process - Regulations - Forms
Please find important information regarding the application procedure for our Master's and doctoral degree programmes as follows:
Master's
A degree from a relevant Bachelor’s or comparable degree programme (at least 180 ECTS credits) and an academic performance above average are required for admission. Furthermore, special prerequisites must be fulfilled depending on the course of study
The academic director assess the application and conduct admission interviews with prospective candidates. These interviews help to clarify details about students' qualifications and motivation. The academic director may establish additional requirements.
The application and all required documents have to be submitted before the end of the application deadline. If the application is submitted early then a university place can be secured prior to the end of the application deadline, provided that the admission has been given and the study fees have been paid.
We kindly ask applicants (citizens) from countries who require a visa to stay in Liechtenstein, to submit their application early because verification of degrees and certificates may take longer. Applications for visa and residence permits can only be submitted after admission has been granted to the university. Based on our experience embassies and offices issuing visas need generally several weeks to process applications.

Doctorate
The application for admission into the Doctoral degree programme requires a Master´s (MSc, MA) or diploma degree from an international recognized university which confers doctoral degrees (further details: fact sheets
Business Economics
and
Architecture and Planning
and the
Regulations Governing the Conferring of Doctorates
). Also the consent of a professor (doctoral supervisor) of the University of Liechtenstein and the confirmation of funding in the event of being employed by University of Liechtenstein, provided that the course of study is not entirely funded on one’s own or through other sources of funding, are required. For this reason, the application requires a letter of recommendation with a confirmation of financing and the submission of an “exposé” with a presentation of the proposed research project. Professional work outside the University of Liechtenstein is only possible in well-founded exceptional cases. A workload reduction down to 50% is recommended. Supervisor and doctoral commission have to agree.
It is recommended that prospective doctoral students contact the student counselling and their potential supervisor very early on (3-6 months before the application deadline!). Please read the ´Guideline for future doctoral students´ and the ´Regulation Governing the Conferring of Doctorates´ carefully.
