8th Dokonara from 14th to 16th September 2014, University of Liechtenstein, Vaduz


The "International Doctoral School of Sustainable Spatial Development" is held annually since 2007, is organized by the Universities of Liechtenstein, Innsbruck, Kassel and the HafenCity University Hamburg.

The aim of the three-day PhD seminar is to provide scientific debates and an interdisciplinary dialogue on ongoing dissertations, including their research questions, theoretical backgrounds and empirical designs. Submissions from PhD candidates working in sustainability dimensions of Regional Development and Planning, Urban Design, Architecture, Urban and Regional Planning, Landscape Planning, Regional Science, Geography, Sociology, Social and Cultural Anthropology and related fields are very welcome.

Regenerative Region: renewable, resource-efficient and resilient

While the participants are free to choose their own topics for submission, this year's DOKONARA focuses on regions, cross-border territories and urban-rural relations in times of resilient urban and regional planning: the role of renewable energies, resources autonomy and reduction of the ecological footprint. Topical examples are renewable energy systems and related urban/regional infrastructure aspects, water sensitive urban design, and resource autonomous architecture.

Contingent in the hostel Vaduz ( is reserverd up to 31 July 2014 - CHF 41.50 including breakfast

Contingent of single- / double rooms is reserved at the Hotel Schlosswald ( up to 31 July 2014 - Special price  CHF 120.00 in single room /CHF 85.00 per person in double room - per night, including breakfast
