How to find us

Design Studio Conradin Clavuot
Emphasis in this studio is on “Sustainable Architecture within the Alpine Region”. This means that the creatures, the cultural landscape and a healthy nature shall be cared about and it is aspired to prepare a liveable future for this special topography.

The mountainous landscape offers many people a sufficient amount of energy, labour and habitat. The mountainous landscape is the moust perservering landscape in terms of innovations. This is well-founded, because nature does not allow for all building options: unfunctional, unnecessary or nonviable acquisitions don’t prove themselves and will disappear again. En vogue trends don’t always make their way to the remote, sparsely populated mountains. This means that things well proven can compete better in the mountains than in the lowlands and this way a tradition is emerging more continously.

People from cities frequent the mountain range as a place of silence, solitude and a place of physical activities. Along with this comes an intensified and changing use of a formerly untouched nature. The well accessible or topographically most astonishing places are put under strong pressure, while more and more people from other valleys move away towards agglomerations.

Accordingly, sustainable architecture in this space means: gentle treatment of the existing and its basic qualities, respect for nature and its demands, use of local resources for construction and energy, creative handling of the attractive qualities of the mountainous region and last but not least: Creation of a econonomically viable environment, made interesting for the inhabitant.

As an architect one can contribute in that considerably.

New life for a village. From the settlement to detailing.

The abandonment of old villages in peripheral regions of the Alps is always a loss of cultural property and beauty. This motivates us as studio to develop ideas for improvement.
The Post Hotel Löwen is the last engine of the village Mulegns, but in the transformation of the tourism industry and under the load and the changed kind of traffic over the Julier Pass this has lost much traction. We want to build strategies for the economic revitalization of the village. Through innovative activation and expansion of the hotel the livelihoods for a successful future are set for Mulegns. Initially the view is open to any ideas that will make the 32 village residents breathe new life. From this preliminary work, we develop interior and architectural projects in the wake of structural extensions of the hotel. The projects are being planned from basic concept through to detail. The integration subjects “Structures” and “Building Physics” will increase technical level of the work.

Those ultimately hopeful projects will be available to decision makers in the region which will shape the view of the village's inhabitants profoundly.
