Lic.iur. et rer.pol., Advokat Lukas von Orelli Managing Director VELUX FOUNDATION

Lukas von Orelli received degrees in economics and law at the University of Basel in 1991 an 1993. Following his first work experience in asset management at a small private bank in Basel he received his attorney license in 1998. Von Orelli’s first exposure to the word of foundations came when, as director, he further expanded a Foundation for young businesspeople, based in Rainach / BL. Since 2004 Lukas von Orelli holds the position of managing director at the VELUX STIFTUNG in Zurich, a medium-sized grant-giving foundation that focuses predominantly on supporting natural science research in the areas of daylight, ageing, ophthalmology.

Since 2010 von Orelli is a board member of  SwissFoundations, the association of Swiss grant-giving foundations, and is head of the working group on finance at the association, covering asset management, impact investing, cost-controlling and IKS. Furthermore, Lukas von Orelli sits on numerous boards of foundations and associations, responsible for finance and asset management.
