Third place for Entrepreneurship student Alexander Moritz Jung at the Startup Weekend in St. Gallen
Alexander Moritz Jung’s new business idea, an innovative toilet seat, won him third place in the St. Gallen Startup Weekend. The MA Entrepreneurship student is in his third semester. He spent the entire weekend from 24 to 26 October 2014 working on his idea, the ‘EasySeat’, along with other aspiring company founders. As well as receiving the jury’s accolade, Alexander derived plenty of motivation and ideas for the practical implementation of his idea from the event. more...

Winner of the Liechtenstein Banking Award 2014
On 27 November 2014 the prizegiving ceremony for the Liechtenstein Banking Award took place at the University of Liechtenstein. The occasion also serves as a platform for networking among representatives of the industry. Liechtenstein prize for 2014 awarded to young scientists of the University of Liechtenstein
On a ceremonial occasion, Education Minister Dr Aurelia Frick awarded the Research Prize of the Principality of Liechtenstein to three young researchers of the University of Liechtenstein. With a prize fund of CHF 10,000, the prize is awarded annually for outstanding projects. It is designed to motivate highly promising young researchers to opt for scientific careers, to encourage scientific investigation in fields relevant to Liechtenstein and finally to strengthen the principality as a centre for research. more...

Liechtenstein on the architectural world stage
Last Friday saw the opening of the exhibition ‘Once upon a time in Liechtenstein’ at the Architecture Biennale in Venice. This had been planned by the University of Liechtenstein, and was accompanied by a symposium involving international architects. The exhibition continues at the Palazzo Trevisan degli Ulivi in Venice until 26 October 2014, and will be shown at the Liechtenstein Museum of the Fine arts from 6 November.

Architecture lecturer wins prestigious Tyrol commission
A native of the Vorarlberg region of Austria, the architect Erich Strolz has just won the competition for the ‘Haus der Musik’ [‘House of Music’] project in Innsbruck. Approval of parliament ensures Liechtenstein’s participation in Erasmus+
As a result of the vote of the Landtag [the Liechtenstein parliament] on Wednesday, 1 October 2014, no further obstacles remain to Liechtenstein’s taking part in the European educational programme Erasmus+. In spite of an increase in the anticipated costs resulting from the rise in Liechtenstein’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP), 20 out of the 25 members of parliament gave their approval to the necessary funding. more...

The results of the 8th award of the European Prize for Urban Public Space have been made public on 25 April. The Prize’s international jury, consisting of representatives from the six institutions that participate with the CCCB in organising the Prize, has decided on 25 finalists. Timber-hybrid tower block: would-be architects at the University of Liechtenstein develop innovative concepts
From September 2011, an eight-storey LifeCycle Tower (LCT) will be erected in Dornbirn, Austria. What is special about LCT One? The hybrid tower block consists mostly of wood. The project architect is Hermann Kaufmann; the client is a subsidiary of a Vorarlberg construction company. The flexibility of the LCT system is illustrated in sketches by architecture students at the University of Liechtenstein, supervised by Professor Dietrich Schwarz. They have come up with some highly creative solutions for the living and working spaces of the future.
