Call for Papers

MSKE 2011 - Call for Papers

Universidade Lusíada de Vila Nova de Famalicão, Portugal believes that knowledge transfer is not a unidirectional process, i.e. university researcher to industry. On the contrary, it is also important that researchers gain an understanding of real industry needs so that their research is grounded in “reality” and is thus more likely to be useful to industry in solving real needs, helping industry to increase their competitivity. Hence this organization together with CLEGI (Centro Lusíada de Engenharia e Gestão Industrial) announces the second edition of the International Conference on “Managing Services in the Knowledge Economy”, (MSKE 2011)  to be held from July 13h to 15th 2011.

Research at the Institute of Entrepreneurship

The research at the Institute of Entrepreneurship aims at  both a thorough scientific analysis of current topics in Entrepreneurial and International Management and at the development of recommended action for managerial practitioners. Our special attention is devoted to the topics Family Business, Entrepreneurial Growth, Entrepreneurial Finance, Strategy, Knowledge Management, Change Management, International Management, Technology and Innovation.

The whole institute takes an application-oriented approach, which is highly inter-disciplinary. Our basic guideline is to do research that is founded on consolidated findings of the behavioral sciences and well-established economic theories. In doing so we want to meet the highest quality standards: The institute's researchers present their findings regularly on world-wide leading scientific conferences in the subject areas of Entrepreneurship, International Management, Organisation Science, Strategy, Technology- and Innovation- plus Knowledge Management. In addition, we publish the results of our latest research periodically in the leading scientific journals around the world. Numerous scientific prices and awards are proofs of our international competitiveness.

Furthermore, it is very important for us not to linger at our state-of-the-art theory building, but to transfer our research findings actively to the economic system and society. Many long-time co-operations with regional enterprises are examples for the successful transfer of our knowledge. We offer firms to do joint research projects with us and do also invite them to conclude a Public Private Partnership with us to sponsor one of our PhD-students, who will develop a customized solution for that sponsoring firm's practical problem at hand - of course with the professional guidance of one of our professors.

Van Riemsdijk-Chair in Entrepreneurship
The „Truus und Gerrit van Riemsdijk-Stiftung” has been supporting the chair in entrepreneurship at the University of Liechtenstein since 2005. Entrepreneurship is characterized as business enterprise or entrepreneurial thinking and action. It involves the development of innovative business opportunities and their implementation in international markets The creative realization of this vision affects every aspect of the chair in entrepreneurship – theory, continuing education, knowledge and technology transfer as well as research.

Chair in International Management
The Chair in International Management at the Institute of Entrepreneurship focuses on the entrepreneurial challenges in a globalized world. The world we live in runs through a fundamental change from an industrial to a knowledge-based society. Thus many companies and nonprofit organizations have to deal with these challenges by adjusting their strategy, organizational structure, human resources management or leadership culture accordingly to the new requirements. The underlying goal of our research and teaching activities at the Chair in International Management is to analyze in a rigor and relevant way the implications of these change processes for all managerial functions and to derive practical advice to decision makers working in the field of International Management.
