Graduation ceremony September 2017

During the graduation ceremony 2017 at the University of Liechtenstein on Friday, September 29, 2017, 98 graduates of the University of Liechtenstein received their degree certificates and 4 doctorates were awarded. The ceremonial address on this special occasion was given by Dr. Alexander Putzer, CEO of the Raiffeisen Privatbank Liechtenstein. In addition, awards for outstanding achievements were presented.

 

Rector Dr. Jürgen Brücker


Rector Dr. Jürgen Brücker, together with the academic directors and doctoral advisors, presented the graduates with their degrees in architecture and economics. In his welcoming speech, Jürgen Brücker emphasised: “The presentation of the degree certificate is a recognition of knowledge acquired, skills gained and commitment to society. I am convinced that you have made good use of the many opportunities for personal development and meeting interesting people, so that your values and knowledge will ultimately have a positive effect on society as a whole.”

 

Principal speaker Dr. Alexander Putzer

The principal speaker, Dr. Alexander Putzer, emphasised: “With the completion of your studies at the University of Liechtenstein, you have created the best prerequisites for a great start to your professional lives. With this foundation, many doors will no doubt be open to you, and many opportunities will present themselves. However, it is up to you to use these opportunities and to not rest on your laurels. Life can only offer you a real opportunity – whether you recognise it and what you make of it is entirely up to you”

Outstanding achievements

A total of six graduates were awarded prizes for their outstanding achievements from Liechtenstein companies and associations.

Prizes in Economics

As in previous years, the Hilti AG foundation for the promotion of young technicians gave awards for the most innovative dissertations from the Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programmes in Economics. The award for the Bachelor's degree programme in Business Administration was presented to Desiree Egger, and the prize for the Master’s degree programme IT & Business Process Management went to Kevin Bösch.

The Liechtenstein Bankers Association (LBV) gave awards for the best average grades in all the modules of the Bachelor’s degree programme in Business Administration with advanced studies in Financial Services and the Master's degree programme in Finance. These awards went to Lorenz-Kilian Oberdorfer (BSc) with an average grade of 5.5 and to Toni Sandrini (MSc) with the excellent average grade of 8.8.

Awards in Architecture

The LIA, the Liechtenstein Engineer and Architects Association, presented awards to the best graduates of the Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes in Architecture. The award for the Bachelor's degree programme went to Anastasia Shesterikova, who achieved an average grade of 5.2. The award winner for the Master's degree programme is Dalal Elarji with an average grade of 5.5.

Doctorates  

Rector Jürgen Brücker and the Vice-President for Research Jan vom Brocke presented the certificates and doctorates to the new doctors, and the themes of the doctoral theses were presented briefly presented.

... in Architecture and Planning

For the first time, a doctorate was awarded in the field of Architecture and Planning: Ariane Ruff was awarded a doctorate for her thesis “Design of space-friendly expansion of renewable energy – developing a process for reviewing energetic space” her doctoral advisor father is em. Prof. DI MAAS Peter Droege.

... in Economics

The three doctoral theses in Business Economics were all awarded with honours: 
Steffen Harald Schröder received his doctorate “summa cum laude” for his thesis “Leadership in Entrepreneurial Organisational Units”. His doctoral advisor is em. Prof. Dr. Urs Baldegger.

Felix Schüssler was awarded his doctorate “magna cum laude” for his thesis “Born Globals: Entrepreneurial Strategies for Rapid Internationalization”. His doctoral advisor is Prof. Dr. Dr. Sascha Kraus.

Sanja Tumbas obtained her doctorate “summa cum laude” for her thesis “Digital Innovation and Rapid Growth in Entrepreneurial Organizations”. Her doctoral advisor is Prof. Dr. Jan vom Brocke.
