Aron Veress, PhD student of the Chair in Banking and Financial Management at the University of Liechtenstein, recently presented his paper at the 29th GdRE Annual International Symposium in Nantes, France, and at the 2012 International doctoral seminar in Fribourg, Switzerland.


29th GdRE Annual International Symposium on Money, Banking and Finance

The 2012 International Symposium on Money, Banking and Finance was held at the Institute of Economics and Management of the University of Nantes. Key speakers from the Columbia Business School, London School of Economics, Goldman Sachs and other renowned institutions covered in their speeches the causes and possible solutions of the ongoing sovereign debt crisis.



A current research paper of the chair in Banking and Financial Management entitled “Enhanced optimal portfolios – A controlled integration of quantitative predictors” was accepted for the conference and presented on June 28th by Aron Veress. The current working paper proposes an approach for asset managers to combine quantitative forecast methods with classical portfolio selection. The subsequent enriching discussion provided valuable input for further improvements.


2012 International doctoral seminar in Fribourg

After hosting the last year’s international doctoral seminar in economics and finance at the University of Liechtenstein, in 2012 Prof. Dr. Martin Wallmeier’s chair at the University of Fribourg welcomed PhD students from numerous European universities. Doctoral students and professors listened to 12 presentations and subsequently discussed about further improvements and possibilities. Aron Veress from the University of Liechtenstein did provide an introduction into the current research topic of the chair Banking and Financial Management entitled “Enhanced optimal portfolios – A controlled integration of quantitative predictors”.

The international doctoral seminar is organized annually and provides a trusted platform for PhD students to discuss about research ideas. Students of the University of Liechtenstein join the conference every year.
