From December onwards, the Institute of Information Systems at the University of Liechtenstein will offer round-table discussions on business process management as platform for exchange of experience and for networking. The practice-oriented event series, scheduled to be held four times a year, will start on 7 December 2011.

Process management or business process management (BPM) has established itself as a holistic management concept with the objective of creating efficient and effective business processes. The round-table discussions on BPM aim to unite experts and interested parties from the region of the Rhine Valley. In the form of quarterly events, the round-table discussions on BPM provide a platform for the exchange of experience and for networking in the field of process management. Every meeting focuses on a specific question with regard to BPM. The meetings are informal, interactive and open to anyone who is interested. BPM – between vision and practice
The topic of the first meeting is “BPM – between vision and practice”. Professor Jan vom Brocke, holder of the Hilti Chair of Business Process Management and Head of the Institute of Information Systems at the University of Liechtenstein, will introduce the topic with a keynote speech entitled “Process management: six factors for successful implementation”. The subsequent discussion will focus on the implementation of BPM in practice. Together, the round-table participants will discuss, among others, the following questions: How do the participants interpret business process management? To what extent is BPM already being implemented in their companies? And what are the current challenges they face? Towards the close, these and other topics may be discussed with the members of the Institute of Information Systems. Pastries and mulled wine will be served, and the meeting will be brought to a close in a cosy atmosphere.

In the past few years, the Institute of Information Systems at the University of Liechtenstein has established itself as a renowned centre of expertise in the field of BPM. Four professors and around 15 academic researchers are intensely exploring questions regarding process design, both from a technical and business-management perspective.
