Thanks to its academic expertise, the Institute of Architecture and Planning at the University of Liechtenstein has become a unique resource for the municipalities and people of Liechtenstein, providing them with new ideas and previously undreamt-of opportunities for development. Visions for Liechtenstein created over the last five years of the design studio can currently be seen in an exhibition until 23 March 2014.

Liechtenstein is successfully taking on the challenges of the future, both at home and in the wider world. For a small country, Liechtenstein plays a major role internationally in the training of architects and urban planners. For 10 semesters, the urban design studios run by Professor Peter Droege and his team from the MSc in Architecture have inspired around 120 individual design projects and attracted numerous students to Liechtenstein from around the world, providing them with in-depth insights as well as perspectives for the future with regard to planning and urban design in Liechtenstein and the Rhine Valley.

In an exhibition on the university campus from 3 to 23 March 2014, interested members of the public now have an opportunity to view a selection of this work. Interested visitors from Liechtenstein and the region can enjoy an unfamiliar insight into the results of the design studios headed by Professor Peter Droege and thus experience the visions for Liechtenstein of a new generation of architects from across the globe.

Five years of planning projects

From Schaan to Triesen, Balzers to Ruggell, from Bregenz to Sevelen, Zurich to Lindau, from Cairo to Seoul: the exhibition showcases a fascinating cross section of both simple and more complex visions, with a focus on 33 of the many young men and women from Liechtenstein, Austria, Switzerland, Germany and 14 other countries in Europe and beyond who have enriched Liechtenstein and its university with their ideas over the past five years. The selected design projects are displayed as drawings and models on coloured panels and accompanied by clear and succinct explanatory texts. A CD containing details of all the projects is available on request.

The vernissage, including a drinks reception, will be held in the foyer of the University of Liechtenstein on 10 March 2014, at 6 p.m. The exhibition will be introduced by Denise Ospelt Strehlau, Head of Town Planning, Planning Permits and Funding at the Liechtenstein Department of Building and Infrastructure, and, from the University of Liechtenstein, Hugo Dworzak, Head of the Institute of Architecture and Planning, and Professor Peter Droege, who holds the Chair for Sustainable Spatial Development.

The exhibition can be seen on the university campus and is open on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. until 23 March 2014. Entry is free.
