The Australian Glenn Murcutt is currently visiting Europe to attend the 2013 Pritzker Prize awards ceremony. On 17 June, the internationally celebrated architect will also honour the University of Liechtenstein with his presence and at a public event provide insights into his work to date.

Glenn Murcutt is recognized as Australia’s most internationally famous architect. In 2002 he was awarded the globally renowned Pritzker Architecture Prize, which is regarded as the Nobel Prize of architecture. For some time now, he has been somewhat less present on the international stage than in previous years.

This makes it all the more pleasing that he has accepted an invitation from the Institute of Architecture and Planning and – as part of the 50th-anniversary celebrations of architectural education in Liechtenstein – agreed to meet with students, teaching staff and interested members of the public. In a discussion with the Head of the Institute Hugo Dworzak and the lecturer Marco Volpato, Glenn Murcutt will answer questions about his life and works.

The event will be held in English and takes place in the auditorium of the University of Liechtenstein on Monday, 17 June 2013, from 6 p.m. Entry is free and no registration is required.

International awards

In addition to the 2002 Pritzker Prize, his international awards include the Alvar Aalto Medal (Finland), the Richard Neutra Award (USA), the Green Pin – the international award for architecture and ecology – from Denmark, the Asia Pacific Culture and Architecture Design Award and the Gold Medal from the Royal Australian Institute of Architects.

Worldwide visiting professorships

Glenn Murcutt has been a visiting professor at numerous prestigious universities around the world and continues to teach as a professor at the University of New South Wales in Australia. He has extensive international experience as a lecturer and public speaker, and is currently himself a jury member for the international Pritzker Prize.
