They received the award for their jointly written article “Innovation in Knowledge-Intensive Industries: The Double-Edged Sword of Coopetition” at the Global Innovation and Knowledge Academy (GIKA) Conference in Valencia in July 2012.

The two researchers, who presented their results together at the conference in Spain, investigated 830 SMEs for their empirical study on the topic of “coopetition”, i.e. simultaneous cooperation and competition between two companies, and in doing so discovered different performance effects on the companies’ capacity for innovation.
