On 31 May 2012, the Institute of Architecture and Planning will welcome guests to the University of Liechtenstein for a morning vernissage with a presentation of the book Positionen 5: Interviews mit Tony Fretton, Sulan Kolatan, Andreas Bründler, CJ Lim und André Schmidt.

The recently published collection of interviews brings together various positions in architecture that have been recorded since 2009 from personal conversations with architects prior to their guest lectures at the University of Liechtenstein. The book presentation will be held as a breakfast event on Thursday, 31 May 2012, from 8.30 a.m. to 9.00 a.m. Peter Staub, Associated Professor of Architecture and Theory, will present the newly published volume and provide an overview of the various architectural positions represented in the book. A small exhibition on the subject will be opened at the same time, and can be viewed up until 8 June 2012 in the foyer of the university.

Positionen 5 contains interviews with the architects Tony Fretton (London), Sulan Kolatan (New York), Andreas Bründler (Basel), CJ Lim (London) and André Schmidt (Peking) about their architectural work. The conversations between these architects and the teaching staff of the Institute of Architecture and Planning deal with the themes of the respective lecture series held at the University of Liechtenstein over the last four years. While Tony Fretton and Sulan Kolatan comment on the role of craftsmanship in their architectural work, the dialogues with CJ Lim, Andreas Bründler and André Schmidt provide an insight into the challenges faced by European architecture offices when building in Asia.

At the book presentation the architect Tony Fretton from London comments on the role of craftsmanship in their architectural work.

The book Positionen 5: Interviews mit Tony Fretton, Sulan Kolatan, Andreas Bründler, CJ Lim und André Schmidt is published by Niggli Verlag. It has 196 pages and 61 illustrations.
