In the scope of the After Work Lectures series by the University of Liechtenstein, Professor Klaus Schredelseker will deliver a lecture on the often completely neglected foundations of equity and financial analysis on 4 October 2012.

The discipline of financial research has established a very good reputation over the last few decades, as underscored by the receipt of more than 15 Nobel Prizes in this area. In addition, there is almost no other social science discipline with such relevance to practical decision-making. Despite this, however, modern financial theories seem to find themselves on shaky ground: approaches such as portfolio theory, the capital asset pricing model and the broadly applied methods of option pricing all rely on a successful financial analysis. But do we really know what this means? So far the most important and time-consuming and by far the best-paid work in the financial industry has been given very little space in academic textbooks.

In his lecture in the scope of the After Work Lectures series, Professor Klaus Schredelseker will argue why more attention should be paid to often neglected financial foundations. In a subsequent discussion, presented by Dr. Georg Peter, participants can explore the topic in greater depth through direct conversation with the visiting speaker. Michael Frommelt, CFA, president of the Liechtenstein Society of Investment Professionals, will offer his conclusion. The subsequent drinks reception will provide an opportunity to exchange ideas.

Professor Klaus Schredelseker studied Economics, Business Management and Law in Paris, Mannheim, Berlin, Milan and Munich. His research interests as Professor of Finance in Wuppertal and Innsbruck include Corporate Governance, Economics and Law, as well as Information Economics. He is a joint founder of the Free University of Bozen, and from 1996 to 1997 was president of the European Financial Management Association.

The series of After Work Lectures is the result of a collaboration between the University of Liechtenstein and the Liechtenstein Society of Investment Professionals.
