From 22 February to 24 March 2013, the University of Liechtenstein organised the “Du bisch dra!” ideas competition in collaboration with the Liechtensteinisches LandesMuseum to find the design of the LandesMuseum of the future. The winners have now been announced at a media conference.

For the period of one month, all of Liechtenstein’s citizens were invited to submit their ideas for the design of the LandesMuseum in Vaduz. During this time, a total of 53 ideas were published on the museum’s Facebook page. Entrants could give their imaginations free rein, and so their ideas ranged from suggestions for interactive exhibitions to camping or discos at the museum through to ideas for mobile applications to bring the museum into the digital age.

Winner of the week

All ideas submitted could win a prize in one of two ways. Firstly, each Friday, the idea with the most Facebook “likes” was awarded a weekly prize. The four winning ideas came from Alexandru Moldovan (KoolTour LI), Vlado Franjevic (Visitors’ Photo Competition), Chris Thöny (Silent Disco) and Adela Calin (The Museum of Feelings) respectively, winning each of them a voucher to the Luce restaurant or to the café at the Kunstmuseum.

Project Manager Dr. Oliver Müller, assistant professor at the Hilti Chair of Business Process Management, was thrilled by the variety and sophistication of the ideas submitted: “It was especially pleasing to see how much effort and care the participants invested into the development of their ideas. Some of the descriptions were longer than a page of A4.”

Awards from the specialist jury

Following the end of the idea-gathering phase, there was a second opportunity to win a prize: a four-person jury, comprising Prof. Rainer Vollkommer and Sven Beham from the Liechtensteinisches LandesMuseum, as well as Prof. Jan vom Brocke and Simone Brandenberg from the University of Liechtenstein, judged all submissions according to two categories: creativity and usefulness/feasibility.

The prize for the most creative idea – an iPad with Wi-Fi 32GB tablet – went to Stefanie Leibfried for her Organisch-interaktive Sonderausstellung (Organically interactive special exhibition) idea. The two prizes for the most useful/feasible ideas – a Kindle Paperwhite e-book reader – were awarded to Adela Calin for Das Menschen Museum (Museum for people) idea, and to Claudia Jarnig-Oehry for her Prost! Mahlzeit! Gesundheit! (Cheers! Bon appetit! Bless you!) idea.

Prof. Rainer Vollkommer and his team are now going to evaluate the project ideas on behalf of the Liechtensteinisches LandesMuseum.
