An established part of the High Potential programme of the Bachelor’s degree course in Business Administration consists in visits to companies. This gives high potential students the opportunity of getting to know prospective employers and forging important contacts at the earliest possible stage. At the end of the summer semester 2015, students had a chance of finding out about the working style and culture of the Hilti company at its head office in Schaan.
An established part of the High Potential programme of the Bachelor’s degree course in Business Administration at the University of Liechtenstein consists in visits to companies. This gives high potential students the opportunity of getting to know prospective employers and forging important contacts at the earliest possible stage. Towards the end of the summer semester 2015, students had a chance of finding out about the working style and culture of the Hilti company at its head office in Schaan.
Daniel Oehry, HR Project Manager and responsible for University Relations, welcomed the high potential students in person. They were then given an extensive initial introduction to Hilti, with the help of key statistics about the company and an image film – falling at once under the Hilti spell.
Experiencing innovation at close quarters
After this the High Potentials were given a tour of the Schaan plant by a lady working in customer account management, receiving a highly impressive picture of the product range of the Hilti company. In particular, the presentation (at both theoretical and practical level) of the way in which Lean Management is implemented at Hilti left an abiding impression. The programme also included a visit to the new Innovation Centre, built at a cost of 120 million euros and just recently opened. In this way the students could develop a sense of the way in which innovations come about, and more importantly, how it becomes possible to implement them.
Attractive job prospects
The last item on the agenda was an informative discussion with Daniel Oehry, who answered numerous questions from the High Potentials on the subject of ‘Entry and career opportunities at Hilti’. With their motivation boosted to focus in the immediate future on a successful conclusion to their studies, the students then headed for the evening and the learning phase at the end of the semester.
