Successful appointments

With the appointments of Dr. Alexandra Butterstein and Dr. Daniel Stockhammer, the University of Liechtenstein has succeeded in filling two vacant professorship positions with staff from its own ranks. The two experienced personalities had applied in public tender procedure and were able to clearly convince the appointment advisory boards as well as the University Council in a strong competitive situation with external applicants.

Dr. Alexandra Butterstein, LL.M., has been appointed Assistant Professor (with tenure track) of Corporate, Foundation and Trust Law by the University Council, effective May 1, 2021. She heads the Institute of Business Law and is the representative of the Chair of Corporate, Foundation and Trust Law. In addition to teaching bachelor's and master's programs in business and economics and in continuing education, Dr. Butterstein is also the academic director of the chair's continuing education programs. The appointment committee particularly emphasized Dr. Alexandra Butterstein's proven and convincing expertise and experience in the legal fields of Liechtenstein's corporate, foundation and trust law, which are significant in the financial center.

Dr. Daniel Stockhammer has been appointed Professor of Building Culture and Circular Construction by the University Council, effective September 1, 2021. "The first-listed Daniel Stockhammer has specifically specialized his research in the field of upcycling and has positioned the Institute of Architecture and Spatial Development internationally with his broad publication activity. His concept of building culture and circular construction is comprehensive and covers a wide range of topics. Dr. Stockhammer is already very well connected and regionally active in Liechtenstein and in the region," emphasizes Prof. Urs Meister, Chairman of the Appointment Advisory Board.

"The appointments of Alexandra Butterstein and Daniel Stockhammer show that good work is being done at the university in the area of promoting young talents. We are proud of this and are convinced that both newly appointed professors will play a significant role in shaping the path of the University of Liechtenstein," says Dr. Klaus Tschütscher, President of the University Council, commenting on the appointments of the two young scientists to professorships.
