Content

The increasing personal and economic interconnections, mainly with the neighbouring states, mean that the number of cross-border cases in Liechtenstein continues to rise. The question as to which national law applies in such cases is to be determined primarily according to the IPRG (1996). The Austrian IPRG, which came into force almost 20 years earlier, was used as a reception template, with minor deviations. When interpreting central provisions of the Liechtenstein IPRG, the case law and jurisprudence on the Austrian IPRG are therefore also taken into consideration, insofar as its provisions comply with Liechtenstein conflict-of-law rules Due to the growing IPR standardisation through EU instruments, the question also arises as to what extent Austrian decisions on these Rome regulations can be referred to.

The speaker University Prof Andreas Schwartze, LL.M. (EHI), is a proven expert in the field of international private law. One focus of the lecture will be on the general rules of conflict-of-law and the law of obligations. Family and inheritance law as well as company law are also taken under consideration.
