Content

The 30th Jurisdiction Symposium is dedicated to Liechtenstein social insurance law, which comprises many different areas. In addition to old-age, survivors' and disability insurance, including any supplementary benefits associated, social insurance also includes occupational pensions, pension funds, health and accident insurance, maternity benefits, family allowances and unemployment insurance benefits. Liechtenstein's social insurance law is essentially based on Swiss law. Today, Swiss law also include a so-called general part (ATSG), which mainly contains definitions and general procedural provisions.

Since Liechtenstein has not adopted these new provisions set out in the ATSG, the procedural provisions laid down in individual Liechtenstein laws apply. Despite the fact that many of the provisions are quite similar in many areas, they cannot be regarded as uniform in this context. While, for a long time, few cases concerning social insurance matters came before courts, a significant increase in these disputes has been recorded in recent years. These developments have led to a volume of case law emerging.

In his lecture, the speaker of the day will deal with excerpts of the current case law in social insurance disputes.
