Content

The success and the increasing importance of the budding Liechtenstein insurance market have aroused interest in academic discussion of those issues which affect this insurance market. As part of this inaugural event The Swiss Society for Liability and Insurance Law (Schweizerische Gesellschaft für Haftpflicht- und Versicherungsrecht, SGHVR) has therefore established a "Section Liechtenstein". The Section is concerned with promoting an exchange of ideas between academia and practice on cross-border insurance law issues. The unique political and economic situation in Liechtenstein (access to the EEA markets and to the Swiss insurance market) simply requires such transnational discussion.

This inaugural event will focus on Liechtenstein life insurance. Due to the consequences of the financial crisis and tighter fiscal and regulatory frameworks, this branch of insurance faces special challenges which must be converted successfully into opportunity and growth.

The event is organised by the Chair of Company, Foundation and Trust Law at the Institute of Financial Services at the University of Liechtenstein and the Swiss Society for Liability and Insurance Law - SGHVR Section Liechtenstein in cooperation with the Centre for Liechtenstein Law at the University of Zurich.

Employees and managers of insurance companies, legal staff in civil service, in the financial sector and in the FMA, lawyers, trustees, brokers, agents and any people interested in current insurance law developments.
