From 18 November to 2 December 2013, all students and staff members will have the opportunity to help shape the sustainable future of this young university.

Did you know that we use more than 140,000 plastic cups a year here at the university? Or that on average, we use more than 125,000 sheets of paper a month for printing? Do you think that’s too much? Then join the Green e-community and discuss with other students and staff members how you can work together to transform the University of Liechtenstein into an even more sustainable place of study and work: green-e-community.uni.li

Interactive research project

In collaboration with the University of Innsbruck, a young team of researchers at the Institute of Information Systems has developed a research project on ecological sustainability. On the team are Dr. Stefan Seidel, Leona Chandra, MSc, and Nadine Reuter, MSc from the Hilti Chair of Business Process Management. The Green e-community is supported by the University of Liechtenstein’s research promotion fund and draws on previous activities carried out as part of the uniGO transformation initiative: www.uni.li/unigo.

Community commitment

The Green e-community will be accessible for two weeks, from 18 November to 2 December 2013. During this period, people can contribute to discussions, rate others’ contributions, and develop ideas and solutions. Once the Green e-community has been closed, its participants will be asked to complete a short questionnaire to provide the basis for the research project.

The team of researchers will then analyse the results and question the participants regarding their experiences when using the platform. Based on the results, the Green e-community platform will be adapted once more and then made accessible again for a second round of discussions – provisionally in March 2014. The team will inform students and staff members about the precise date in good time.

The platform is user-friendly and self-explanatory. The key functions of the Green e-community are available as a manual.

Prizes for commitment

With their ideas and contributions to the discussion, all participants are showing commitment to the sustainable future of the University of Liechtenstein. They are also supporting the research work being performed at the university.
The most committed participants will receive prizes such as books relating to sustainability, or vouchers up to the value of CHF 150 for the Uni-Shop (www.uni.li/shop).
