Along with around 480 other outstanding young scientists coming from almost 80 countries, this year once again young researchers of the University of Liechtenstein will be taking part in the Fifth Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting on Economic Sciences. The four candidates selected will be joining other students, doctoral candidates and post-doctoral students to meet 19 Nobel Prize winners on Lake Constance from 19 to 23 August.

Held in Lindau, the Nobel Laureate Meetings have been promoting dialogue between generations and cultures since 1951. The special feature of this year is that a meeting of Nobel Laureates in Economic Sciences is being held in August – an event that only takes place every three years. Several thousand academics under 35 years of age had already applied to attend since applications were invited in September 2013. After a preliminary internal evaluation process to which all applications were subjected, they were selected for the most part by the academic partner institutes of the conference organisers, of which there are more than 200. Apart from their academic achievements, the motivation of the applicants was a crucial factor for a positive rating.

The University of Liechtenstein delegation
It is evident that the research achievements of the University of Liechtenstein are valued in the community, as confirmed by the distinction of our young students being invited to attend the Nobel Laureate Meeting along with highly regarded young academics from all over the world. In 2008 and 2011 two young researchers were chosen from the university, which was then still relatively young. In 2014 there are now four:

Dr Andreas Brunhart

Research Officer at the Liechtenstein Institute and Scientific Project Associate at the Liechtenstein Economic Research Centre

Dr Oliver Müller

Assistant Professor at the Hilti Chair of Business Process Management of the Institute for Business Information Systems

Stefan Debortoli MSc

Scientific Associate and doctoral candidate at the Hilti Chair of Business Process Management of the Institute for Business Information Systems

Dr Stefan Wilhelm

Scientific Associate at the Chair for International Management of the Institute for Entrepreneurship
