Careers with responsibility

Graduates from the Master’s degree programme in Architecture are well prepared for a career in architecture and its associated fields, and thanks to the sound practical and academic teaching, promising perspectives may also arise in various research areas and academia.

Graduates will have at their disposal in‐depth, up‐to‐date knowledge and critical command of core areas, theories and concepts of contemporary architecture and urban design. The programme specifically develops progressive design approaches and integrative thinking as well as teamwork capacity and analytical, social and communication skills among its students. The studio projects challenge and prepare students for the global demands of the broad field of architecture and spatial development.

Upon successful completion of the programme, the University of Liechtenstein awards the academic degree Master of Science in Architecture (MSc Arch). The degree is a prerequisite to enter a doctoral programme.

Real career opportunities in the region!
The Principality of Liechtenstein and the Alpine Rhine Valley are among the most innovative and attractive economic regions in the world. It is defined by its alpine landscape and by its appreciation of high quality architecture sensitive to its geographic and cultural context. Successful architects work in the region (among them Pritzker Prize winner Peter Zumthor, Gion A. Caminada, Valerio Olgiati, Bernardo Bader and Baumschlager Eberle) and well known initiatives have established architecture as a successful ambassador for entire regions (for example Holzbaukunst Vorarlberg, Austria). Craftsmanship, and with it a keen interest in sustainable construction processes are further qualities that are reflected in how the Liechtenstein School of Architecture educates its students.

TO THE ALUMNI CAREERS

Stimmen vom Campus_Anina Frei_web.jpg

It was only quite late in life that I decided to study architecture. I was a ski racer during my childhood and teenage years, and I always thought that one day I would work in the sports industry. However, an internship at an architectural firm after high school convinced me to pursue a different path.

What excited me about architecture was the combination of creative design and technical implementation. Finding the ideal solution for residents as well as the location and environment of a building, supporting the construction process and still managing to create something that I can stand behind as an architect – this fascinates me, and gives me the feeling of being on the right career path.

Alongside my studies I am currently dealing with a project of my own – the conversion of a one-family house into a multiple-family home. In the future, I can see myself opening up my own firm, after having gained a few more years of work experience - preferably abroad.
