The subject of the 34th Jurisdiction Symposium is the current case law of the Swiss Federal Court on property law. Considering the almost identical legislation, the practice of the Swiss Federal Court is likely also of importance to Liechtenstein. Important new decisions in the fields of movable and immovable property law will be presented in detail. During the presentation, attention will also be given to the new Property Law, which entered into force on 1 January 2012 and notably introduced the Register-Schuldbrief (Registered Debt Certificate). There is hardly any case law from the Federal Supreme Court on this revised law; there are however experience from the industry.

Prof Dr Stephan Wolf, Professor for Private Law and Notarial Law at the University of Bern, will hold the main lecture. This will be followed by a short lecture by Dr Bernd Hammermann, Head of the Office of Justice, on the current reform ideas for Liechtenstein property and land transaction law. The subsequent discussion will deal in detail with which Swiss decisions are very important for Liechtenstein law and which of such decisions are less important due to characteristic features in Liechtenstein. Participants will have ample opportunity to ask individual questions.
