Family Governance - Corporate Governance - Foundation Governance

For today's founders/entrepreneurs, the terms "family governance", "corporate governance" and "foundation governance" have become indispensable. The guiding principles useful in understanding these terms will be discussed in detail at the 9th Liechtenstein Annual Convention on Foundation Law. International experts, both academics and practitioners, will share their experiences and provide an insight into this complex, yet underestimated field. The welcoming remarks by the new dean of the University of Liechtenstein, Dr Jürgen Brücker, will be followed by a discussion of the latest case law concerning Liechtenstein foundation law. Participants will be led through the landscape of Liechtenstein foundations, as part of which focus will be placed on special features and opportunities to improve management structures.

Due to the attractiveness of Liechtenstein's financial centre to foreign investors, especially German and Austrian entrepreneurs, specific international founding situations will be dealt with. Corporate structures used as part of foundation structuring for the purpose of ensuring efficient foundation governance will constitute a part of this year's conference, as will the question of which bodies can be installed in order to guarantee successful governance. A discussion of succession planning from an entrepreneurial perspective will round off the morning's programme.

The afternoon will start with an insight into governance as the basis of goal-oriented foundation activity, provided by Hans Brunhart, Princely Counsel and President of the Vereinigung liechtensteinischer gemeinnütziger Stiftungen e.V. The subsequent presentations will focus on foundation governance in charitable foundations and their cooperation.

On the 90th anniversary of the PGR, Dr Thomas Zwiefelhofer, Deputy Head of Government, will last but not least provide an insight into the development of Liechtenstein foundation law from 1926-2016.

The presentations on the various topics are rounded off by panel discussions, in which conference attendees are welcome to participate with questions arising in practice.

We would like to sincerely thank the Vereinigung liechtensteinischer gemeinnütziger Stiftungen e.V. for its support in designing the content and for its financial support for this event.
