On Wednesday, 28 May 2025, the Liechtenstein School of Architecture (LSA), in collaboration with Alumni Relations and the Spinnerei, warmly welcomed guests to the LSA Summer Festival & Alumni Reunion. Around 150 attendees – including approximately 30 alumni, numerous students, faculty members and architecture enthusiasts – made their way to the University of Liechtenstein campus despite heavy rain. Their efforts were rewarded with a rich programme, inspiring conversations and a vibrant atmosphere.
Excursion: Experiencing Circular Construction First-Hand
The afternoon began at 4 p.m. with an alumni excursion to the ZirkuLIE Building Component Depot in Triesen. Dr Clarissa Rhomberg, an alumna of the university, and Clemens Quirin from vai Vorarlberg led the group through the initiative. Despite the rainy weather, the tour offered exciting insights into the future of circular construction in Liechtenstein.
Exhibition Opening and Awards Ceremony
At 6 p.m., Prof. Dr Daniel Stockhammer opened the LSA Summer Exhibition, where students presented their architectural models and design projects. The exhibition hall was bustling – many visitors took the opportunity to experience the creativity of LSA students up close.
As part of the exhibition, the annual LSA Awards were presented:
LSA Student Engagement Award: Sophie Breitruck (ULSV)
Bachelor Thesis Award: Martin Dupont
Master Thesis Award: Lina Gasperi
LSA Alumni Award (in collaboration with Alumni Relations): Beat Burgmaier, recognised for his commitment to sustainability
Honouring Departures and Sharing Perspectives
A heartfelt moment came with the farewell of long-standing colleagues who have significantly shaped architectural education at the university: Bernhard Gasser, Christoph Angehrn and Prof. Dr Lindsay Howe were warmly acknowledged and celebrated.
A powerful anecdote shared by an alumna now working in the Netherlands illustrated the international impact of the LSA:
“During our studies, we were often shown reference projects by Dutch architects. Now, in our office, we refer to architects from the German-speaking world – including uni.li alumna and former lecturer Bianca Böckle (bothand architecture).”
Music, Food and Joyful Encounters in the Rain
Setting the tone for the evening, the alumni band "Betonleiter" – featuring Simon Egger, Loris Vogt, Noah Laternser and Julian Huber – delivered an energetic musical performance. The Spinnerei provided refreshing drinks, while Pasta Barn served up fresh pasta creations.
A Celebration of Community and Connection
The LSA Summer Party & Alumni Reunion 2025 was a lively expression of the strong community spirit within the LSA – a celebration filled with energy, inspiration and the joy of reunion. Despite the rain, it was a true highlight of the university year – and an unforgettable party.
