With a trial day specially designed for novices, interested adolescents will receive valuable support regarding their selection of a degree programme, as well as extensive insight into the specialist area of architecture, and what it is like to study at the University of Liechtenstein. The programme of the 2012 trial day on Wednesday, 18 January 2012, includes a tour of the university campus, informative conversations with architecture lecturers, and a tailored workshop with practical tasks regarding design and construction. In past years’ workshops, for example, the young participants constructed high-rise towns made from cardboard and bridges made from pasta.

A look behind the scenes
In the lecture entitled “What is Architecture?”, Carmen Rist-Stadelmann, certified engineer and module coordinator for professional experience at the Institute of Architecture and Planning, will be offering background information on the specialist area. Questions regarding the content of the degree programme in Architecture and professional perspectives will also be answered. The aim of the trial day is to present everyday life at the university as realistically as possible and to share the busy and creative atmosphere in the studio with the interested parties. The workshop’s results will then be presented and discussed in the foyer.
