The Affiliated Institute SME Centre of the University of Liechtenstein invites interested parties to the next event in the Solid SME Knowledge series on Wednesday, 12 September 2012, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

This year, the Solid SME Knowledge series of events is looking at the current challenges that small and medium-sized enterprises face in various stages of development. The aim of the quarterly events is to explain the background, suggest specific solutions and actively support businesspeople from the region in their everyday work. The current event will look at the issue of “Succession planning in family businesses”.

Scientific and practical focus on business succession
In the first part, Professor Sascha Kraus, who heads the centre of expertise for family businesses at the University of Liechtenstein’s Institute for Entrepreneurship, will discuss the significance of family businesses in general and look at ways to approach succession planning efficiently. A scientific approach will be used to tie into practical approaches.

In the second part, Christoph Frommelt, certified architect (HTL) and “Entrepreneur of the Year 2011”, will report on his personal experiences and challenges when taking over the Frommelt carpentry business from his father and show what has become of the traditional carpentry business. The event will offer valuable input and recommendations on an issue that is always topical and will give companies incentives for tackling the issue earlier rather than later so as to guarantee a sustainable transition.
