At the theme night of the Executive Master of Laws (LL.M.) programme in International Taxation on 1 September 2011, Dr. Urs Gähwiler, General Counsel at LGT Group, and Brigitte Arnold, Head of Tax and Products at LGT Group, spoke about the taxation of financial instruments in Liechtenstein.

Following an introduction about the different asset classes, the speakers explained the taxation of classic, derivative and collective investment instruments. In addition, they examined the taxation of real estate investments and life insurance. In their talk, Dr. Urs Gähwiler and Brigitte Arnold presented the current developments and questions regarding international taxation of financial instruments from Liechtenstein’s perspective. The new insights were analysed in more depth in specific case studies, and approaches to tackle basic problem areas were discussed with the participants in a solution-oriented manner.
