The Chair in Business Administration, Banking and Financial Management invites you to the second 2012 After Work Lecture on Thursday, 15 March 2012, from 5.30 p.m. to 7.00 p.m. In his presentation, Dr. Thomas Weber, founding partner and CIO of the Hedge Fund Investments division  of LGT Capital Partners Ltd. in Pfäffikon, will illustrate four ways in which hedge funds can generate yields and benefit from market distortions in times of uncertainty. In addition, current developments in the area of hedge funds as well as challenges and opportunities for investors and fund companies will be discussed. In a subsequent discussion, presented by Professor Marco Menichetti, participants can explore the topic in greater depth through direct conversation with the visiting speaker. Following this segment, Dr. Andreas Hueber, CFA, Vice-President of the Liechtenstein Society of Investment Professionals, will offer his conclusion. The subsequent drinks reception will provide opportunities to exchange ideas.

Insights into hedge funds in practice
Dr. Thomas Weber is a founding partner and CIO of the Hedge Fund Investments division  of LGT Capital Partners Ltd., a leading investor and global fund-of-funds manager for alternative investments situated in Switzerland. Dr. Weber has an MBA in Finance from the Georgia State University and a PhD in Business Administration from the University of St. Gallen (HSG), where he also gave lectures. He has published various articles and other works, including a book on hedge fund investments entitled Das Einmaleins der Hedge Funds (The basics of hedge funds).

The series of After Work Lectures is the result of a collaboration between the University of Liechtenstein and the Liechtenstein Society of Investment Professionals, and is aimed at professionals from local companies, banks, insurance companies, investment and asset management companies, financial advisory services and trust companies as well as tax experts, lawyers, fund managers and auditors. Students from the Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programmes who are interested in finance and investment are also welcome.
