On 13 March 2013, the Chair of Company, Foundation and Trust Law at the Institute for Financial Services is holding a symposium on insurance investment products at the University of Liechtenstein.

One of the European Commission’s responses to the financial crisis in recent years has been a “transparency offensive” which is rapidly following new principles for capital investment, such as “know your customer” or “investor-friendly consultancy”. New guidelines for insurance brokerage and investment products mean that insurance companies and brokers are subject to stricter information and consultancy standards regarding insurance investment products. In the symposium starting at 6 p.m. on 13 March, these European developments will be analysed against the backdrop of the applicable Liechtenstein and international insurance law and current case law. The event is actively supported by the Liechtenstein Insurance Association. As the number of participants is limited, participants are asked to register at www.uni.li/gesellschaftsrecht.

How much transparency can the market tolerate?
Two solicitors from gbf Rechtsanwälte in Zurich, Dr. Ulrike Mönnich (LL. M.) and Professor Helmut Heiss (LL. M.), full professor at the University of Zurich, as well as Hannes Fahrnberger (Mag. iur.), member of the board of Vienna-Life Lebensversicherung AG in Bendern, will discuss issues such as transparency, advice and liability for insurance investment products. The event, consisting of a panel discussion followed by the opportunity to exchange ideas at a drinks reception, will be chaired by Professor Francesco A. Schurr, who holds the Chair of Company, Foundation and Trust Law at the Institute for Financial Services at the University of Liechtenstein.
