Professor Peter Droege, Chair for Sustainable Spatial Development, presents twice at this years Summit of the Society of the Digital Earth (ISDE), held in Wellington, New Zealand’s capital. Peter Droege, Life Member of ISDE, speaks in the Digital Environments and Resilient Cities thematic tracks of the Summit, presenting tools and findings of the university’s Renewable Liechtenstein and Bodensee-Alpenrhein Energieregion projects.

The third track is themed Growing Up Digital and deals with the developmental and educative dimensions of information technology, particularly spatial data infrastructure (SDI). Among others, Microsoft and ESRI present their new spatial data and city imaging systems, along with dozens of other speakers.

Topics looked at cloud computing supported 3D-GIS, high resolution global city mapping projects, digital technology for such wide-ranging, spatially and partially relevant applications as disaster management and participatory decision-making.

The Fifth Summit of the Beijing based Society will be held in Tokyo. Professor Droege hopes for new international research alliances and advanced student interests – and also that a future Digital Earth event will be held in Liechtenstein.
