Connecting practical experience and scientific findings: At the beginning of the year, in the scope of the Liechtenstein Tax Forum of the Institute for Financial Services at the University of Liechtenstein, national and international experts will provide information on the taxation of asset management structures.

The Liechtenstein financial centre and Liechtenstein as a tax location, in particular, have been subjected to a phase of fundamental changes in the European and global environments for years. The new tax law came into force on 1 January 2011 and contains a fundamental reorganization of the taxation of asset management structures. Therefore, on 26 January 2012, from 8.30 a.m. to 5.00 p.m., the Liechtenstein Tax Forum will explore the newly regulated taxation of foundations, establishments, trusts and life insurance companies, as well as of their founders and beneficiaries in Liechtenstein. The European framework conditions, the taxation of foundation and establishments, and the taxation of private asset structures will be outlined during the morning session. In the afternoon, the focus will shift to the taxation of trusts and life insurance companies. The Tax Forum is aimed at representatives of enterprises, banks and insurance companies, at tax advisors, fund managers, lawyers, trustees, asset managers and auditors.

Platform for the exchange of ideas
The Liechtenstein Tax Forum is an event series by the Chair for Tax Management and the Laws of Liechtenstein and International Taxation at the University of Liechtenstein’s Institute for Financial Services. It explores current developments in national, international and European tax law, as well as international tax cooperation, and provides information about possible consequences of these developments for companies and the financial services industry. Renowned experts with backgrounds in research, experience in administration or practical experience present their opinions based on practice and scientific findings. The central aspects are analysed and discussed in the format of an open dialogue, from which the participants, in particular, benefit, since they have the opportunity of e-mailing their questions in advance to beatrice.kaiser@uni.li or submitting them by post. The speakers are happy to feature these questions.
