The recently established Liechtenstein University Sports Association (LHSV) was admitted to the European University Sports Association (EUSA) at its annual general meeting in Maribor, Slovenia.

The EUSA forms the European umbrella organization for all national academic sport associations. In addition to its content-related work, the promotion of sport and international cooperation, the European Championships and the EUSA Student Games are the main focus areas. This year, for the first time, the EUSA Games will be held in Córdoba, Spain. Here the students will be competing in the following sports: badminton, basketball, beach volleyball, football, futsal, handball, rugby, table tennis, tennis and volleyball.

The aim of all EUSA events is to provide the students with an opportunity to compete against other European students in a sporting context – and of course the international exchange and the representation of the individual universities and countries play an important role. For Liechtenstein, this means that its international presence as an educational location can be expanded through our participating students.

For the LHSV and the sportspeople at the academic institutions, this is another great opportunity to present themselves, their country and their local work in the field of sport to an international audience.

The LHSV aims to provide all students in the Principality of Liechtenstein and all Liechtenstein students abroad with the opportunity to participate in competitive sport in a national and international context. The association thus promotes popular, leisure and top-performance sports from the nation. In future, cooperation with national sport associations will be pursued, in order to support individual sports and sportspeople and enable them to participate in academic championships.
