As part of the 13th International Business Process Management Conference, Prof. Dr. Jan Mendling (Vienna University of Economics) and Prof. Dr. Jan vom Brocke (University of Liechtenstein) presented the Liechtenstein BPM Innovation Award 2015.

The prize was established by the Hilti Chair of Business Process Management at the University of Liechtenstein to recognize achievements in the field of BPM that are of high practical relevance and of high future orientation. A project of the Lufthansa Technik Group, which was presented by Mirko Kloppenburg and Michael Bögle and by researchers from the University of Bamberg, Janina Kettenbohrer, and the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management, Prof Dr Daniel Beimborn, was awarded. The project shows how BPM can be used to master current and future management challenges.

"The integrated process-oriented management system IQ MOVE of Lufthansa is an example of good process management," says Prof Dr Jan vom Brocke, and, thus, refers to the 10 principles of good business process management, which have been developed in Liechtenstein together with Mirko Kloppenburg and Michael Bögle among others. "It is effective and lean at the same time and uses modern technology. These are the reasons why we have awarded this project among the many excellent submissions," resumes the professor and initiator of the award. During the awards ceremony as part of the Industry Track of the BPM Conference in Innsbruck, Prof Dr Jan Mendling also appreciated the high practical value of the approach, which has already proven itself in use with more than 20,000 employees.

The winners were very happy: "We are very pleased to receive this recognition for our many years of commitment to the issue of BPM at Lufthansa Technik and to be given the opportunity to present our BPM case. The discussion with the other BPM experts in Innsbruck helped us a lot," said Mirko Kloppenburg, project manager at Lufthansa Technik and co-author of the case that was presented at the BPM Conference.
