Product presentation of the Hoi zemma learning experiment

It proved to be a genuinely instructive undertaking – the learning experiment Hoi zemma of the Voluntary 10th School Year in Vaduz. The project was designed to communicate entrepreneurial thinking, and it was a cooperative effort between the Small Business Centre of the University of Liechtenstein and the Hoi store in Vaduz. The young entrepreneurs presented their self-created products at 6.00 pm on Tuesday, 2 December at the Hoi store.

From the idea to the finished product

This project of the Zukunftsbrücke [Bridge to the Future] class under the auspices of the Voluntary 10th School Year combines several ‘disciplines’ of entrepreneurial thinking and action at once. As we all know, when you have been practically involved in creating something yourself, it sticks in the memory – and mistakes are all part of the process. This was the sort of enterprise that the class teachers Rebekka Biedermann and Claudia Reinisch hoped to realise with their students – and in the autumn the Hoi zemma project was actually put into effect.

Communicating entrepreneurial thinking

At this juncture Thomas Moll, Project Leader for Knowledge and Technology Transfer at the Small Business Centre of the University of Liechtenstein, took over – instructing the class, in the theoretical part of the project, in important skills like project management, creativity techniques, cost calculations, team-building and marketing. The practical part involved the students’ own Christmas card creations. Here the class had support from Cornelia Wolf of the Hoi store.

Product for Christmas sales

By Tuesday, 2 December 2014, just in time for Christmas, the postcard series was actually on sale at Hoi. An exciting and instructive time was approaching its climax – the product presentation. Just what Christmas cards were created, and what all the participants learned as a result of the experiment, was revealed at the product presentation at 6.00 pm on 2 December at the Hoi store, Im Städtle 35, Vaduz. The students, teachers and project directors were particularly honoured to welcome the Liechtenstein Minister of Education, Dr Aurelia Frick, to the project launch. A warm invitation was extended to all – there was no charge for admission.
