The International Summer Academy for Journalism and Public Relations in
Liechtenstein, which will take place at the University of Liechtenstein from 5 to 30 August 2013, is once more awarding 12 scholarships to junior journalists this year. The application deadline is 31 May 2013.

This year, the government of the Principality of Liechtenstein, the University of Liechtenstein, the Liechtenstein Press Club and the Concordia Vienna Press Club are once again inviting young people to apply for a place at the International Summer Academy for Journalism and Public Relations.

The organizers are thereby pursuing the aim of promoting journalistic reporting on socio-political topics by providing 12 scholarships. The invitation is specifically aimed at newcomers to journalism and young professionals from the neighbouring countries Liechtenstein, Switzerland, Germany and Austria.

Free, practice-orientated education
This year, the International Summer Academy for Journalism and Public Relations will take place at the University of Liechtenstein from 5 to 30 August 2013. The International Summer Academy is not only aimed at students, but also at young people who – with or without a degree – want to embark on a career in journalism.

The education provided is strongly practice-orientated and primarily geared towards print journalism – it is also free of charge. Following an entrance test, all scholarship holders complete a clearly structured programme of lectures and workshops, given by experts in journalism and PR with national and international experience.

A wide-ranging programme
Experienced journalists will be passing on their knowledge in Liechtenstein. A few prestigious examples: the Swiss “Journalist of the Year”, Peer Teuwsen (ZEIT), Deputy Editor-in-Chief Philipp Gut (Weltwoche), Peter Resetarits (ORF) and Marga Swoboda (Kronen Zeitung). Alongside lectures and workshops, the programme of the International Summer Academy for Journalism and Public Relations also includes visits to the editorial departments of newspapers as well as to major companies in Liechtenstein. This year will, for the first time, also include active participation in the Forum Alpbach.

Numerous graduates from the International Summer Academy for Journalism and Public Relations have managed to successfully find employment in the media sector after graduating from the programme, for example at the APA news agency, at ZDF as well as at countless press offices in Liechtenstein and its neighbouring countries.

The International Summer Academy for Journalism and Public Relations has been consistently developed in line with the constitution, and is implemented accordingly. After successfully graduating from the academy, all graduates with a positive evaluation are awarded 10 ECTS credits as well as a certificate of participation.
