Academics from the Institute of Information Systems met with representatives of regional industry at the University of Liechtenstein on 3 December 2013 to look back on six years of successful cooperation. They also celebrated the publication of a new book.

The Competence Center (CC) Initiative, organized by the Institute of Information Systems at the University of Liechtenstein, was set up in 2008 to promote collaboration between academia and practice in the region. Together with the companies ALPLA, Hilti, Hoval, Ivoclar Vivadent and ThyssenKrupp Presta, as well as the Liechtensteinische Landesverwaltung, numerous collaboration projects were successfully carried out over the past six years.

The CC Initiative is funded by the Liechtenstein government. The regional group, made up of representatives from business, administration and academia, shares experiences and promotes networking. While the initiative focuses on IT projects in the partner companies, regular meetings are also organized at the University of Liechtenstein to exchange experiences, ideas and opinions.

The last of these meetings for this year was held on Tuesday, 3 December 2013. The aim of the event was to look back on the work accomplished so far and to work together to plan future projects. Participants also celebrated the publication of a collaborative book project.

In the book, Enterprise Content Management (ECM) in Information Systems Research, edited by Professor Jan vom Brocke and Dr. Alexander Simons from the Hilti Chair of Business Process Management (BPM), authors from around the world present current results of research and practical experiences in the field of ECM.

ECM refers to the management of digital documents and content, an area that was identified as a key topic of the future early on in Liechtenstein. The book, published by Springer-Verlag in English, therefore also includes several chapters featuring projects conducted at the Competence Center for Enterprise Content Management (CC-ECM) in recent years.

For the academics at the Institute of Information Systems and the representatives of the partner companies, who in some cases also acted as co-authors, the book’s publication represents an important milestone in the long-standing partnership.
