Two new research studies on Design Science Research

Jan vom Brocke represents the university with two contributions at this year's DESRIST (International Conference on Design Science Research).

DESRIST was first held in 2006 in Claremont. The conference provides a platform for thought leaders in the area of design science research; i.e., research topics surrounding the design of IT artifacts, most notably methods and models. In 2010, DESRIST is organized  by Robert Winter (University of St. Gallen) and thus, for the first time, takes place in Europe.

As design-oriented research focuses on the novelty and usefulness of IT artifacts, it is suitable for rigorous research at the borderline between industry and science in particular. Design science research is also taught at the University of Liechtenstein both within the Master's and PhD programs in Business Process Engineering.

Besides, the Institute of Information Systems has been carrying out several research initiatives that belong to the design science paradigm; examples include the project "ECM Blueprinting", funded by the National Research Fund of Liechtenstein as well as a variety of studies at the competence centers funded by the Liechtenstein Government.

Current research contributions have been developed in collaboration with fellow researchers from ETH Zürich, the University of St. Gallen, and SAP Research. Research topics include "Design of Business Innovation" (together with Alexander C.H. Skorna, Christoph Bode, Oliver Bäcker) and the "Management of Design Science Research Projects" (together with Sonia Lippe).
