Abstract

During the past few decades, the body of literature attributed to technology and innovation management (TIM) has significantly increased and diversified. To map the scientific evolution of this subject, we analysed more than 12,000 articles published between 2000 and 2014. We used a hybrid similarity measure combining bibliographic coupling and textual information to create bibliometric networks and to cluster the literature on TIM. Compared with prior bibliometric studies in the field, we examined a larger data sample, analysed the most recent publications, and identified the latest research fronts. Conclusively, we illustrated in a flowchart the evolution of the TIM landscape during five three-year periods. In this article, we describe in detail six latest research fronts and their evolution. Furthermore, we discuss the thematic differences of TIM specialty journals in contrast to strategic management journals.
