Abstract

Technology acceptance among end-users is a critical success factor for the implementation of new IT artefacts. Whereas many studies postulate and investigate this statement for desktop-based systems, empirical studies to investigate improvement poten-tials of mobile information and communication technologies (ICT) are rare (Basole & Rousse, 2007). Moreover, empirical case studies which show business process change after mobile tool deployment are limited by number and application domain (Ge-bauer & Shaw, 2004; Wang & Cheung, 2004). This paper introduces five long-term (6 to 15 months) case studies within the IT-Service domain. We investigate business process changes after mobile tool deployment among IT-Service technicians. Further-more, we observe the impact of user participation during development on tool acceptance after deployment and examine if user participation has positive effects on business metrics in IT-Service
