Research at the University of Liechtenstein

Excellent research is a prerequisite for innovations and promising ideas. The reputation and profile of the University are largely determined by excellent research results and by committed researchers whose work is recognised in the international academic community. Research at the University of Liechtenstein aims at  contributing to the transformation into a more sustainable society and at developing innovative, sustainable, and regionally specific answers to the challenges of global trends such as climate change, mobility, or digitalisation. Thus the university makes a significant contribution to the attractiveness, prosperity, and innovative strength of the region by offering new perspectives and transferring its research results. It strengthens the reputation and future-oriented development of the Principality and the Alpine Rhine Valley. It provides the country with excellently trained and responsible specialists and executives and thus contributes to the value creation and recognition of the country.

Research attitude

University research is committed to the principles of rigor, relevance, integrity, and engagement. Its theoretical, conceptual, or experimental approach is determined by the demand for truth, openness, transparency, and critical reflection on its own actions. University research is based on an unbiased problem awareness of social challenges. It aims to generate knowledge, and initiate changes towards a sustainable society.

By law, research is a mandate of the university and contributes significantly to the university's international profile. The University of Liechtenstein is a research-led university. Basic and application-oriented research form the foundation for teaching, continuing education and knowledge transfer and aim to promote the next generation of academics.
