Successful entrepreneurs need self-leadership. Self-leadership is a self-influencing process for increasing personal effectiveness, which can positively influence cognitive, motivational, and emotional processes of (nascent) entrepreneurs. Although both theorists and practitioners assume that self-leadership has an important role in the context of entrepreneurship, it has so far received little empirical research. Indirect effects suggest that self-leadership is positively related to key concepts of entrepreneurship (e.g., entrepreneurial intention, opportunity recognition). Thus, self-leadership should have positive effects on entrepreneurial thinking and acting and on the entrepreneurial mindset. The project aims to gain new insights into the relationship between self-leadership and entrepreneurship.
