Doctoral degree programme in Architecture and Planning

The doctoral degree programme in Architecture and Planning at the University of Liechtenstein is geared to international standards and criteria. We build our reputation on education through research – and on education in research. Our aim is to develop and promote emerging researchers as an extension of the Master’s degree, and at other stages of their careers.

At the University of Liechtenstein budding researchers with a Master's degree or equivalent (diploma) in architecture or planning with excellent records can scientifically investigate subjects within the R&D frame of the university in one of the following research focal points:

  • Architectural Design Theory
  • Sustainable Design
  • Sustainable Urban Design and Planning

Academic degree: Doktor der Wissenschaft (Dr. sc.) - official translation: Doctor of Philosophy in Architecture and Planning (PhD)

Programme start: September or February

Duration: 3 to 5 years

Intake per year: The number of places is limited and subject to availability.

Language of instruction: German and English

Credits: 20 ECTS (Preparation phase) | 10 ECTS (Dissertation phase)

Application deadline: 31 May (start winter semester) | 31 October (start summer semester)

Tuition fee: CHF 950,-  (EU/EEA and Swiss citizens); CHF 1‘250,- (other citizens) per Semester

       Application fee: CHF 100,-
