CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

In search for excellent career prospects? The programme delivers you them.

MSc in Finance

Upon graduation, students will be highly qualified for a career in finance – for example in financial risk management, asset, investment and wealth management, international financial management and portfolio management. We encourage our students to actively participate in extracurricular activities to sharpen their professional profile.

Career perspectives

Graduates have excellent career prospects and are qualified for a wide range of leadership and expert positions in the financial services industry or in the financial departments of internationally operating businesses. Liechtenstein’s unique strategic position also helps our Master’s students to obtain easier access to the Swiss and European financial labour market.

Working during your studies

Gaining work experience during your studies will not only provide you with some extra cash, but also help to prepare you for your career after graduation. Current students do this through part-time employment, internships during the holidays or a 6 month internship during a study break.

CAREER DAY FINANCE

Career Day Finance

The Career Day Finance is held in November and serves as a platform for companies from the financial services sector and students of the University of Liechtenstein.

In recent years, it has become a permanent institution in the academic year of the University of Liechtenstein.

With this event, we want to address various companies from the financial services sector and give them the opportunity to get to know interested students through personal exchange and workshops.

What has been your biggest achievement so far and how does it relate to your completion of the MSc in Finance programme of the University of Liechtenstein?
Coming from a non-finance Bachelor’s programme, but striving towards a career in the financial sector, the MSc in Finance was my key to success. The MSc in Finance programme at the University of Liechtenstein enabled me to acquire the necessary knowledge and to build up the right connections to enter the financial industry. Hence, my Master’s degree opened the door to work for an international bank in one of Europe’s major financial centers.

What piece of advice could you give new students regarding the MSc Finance programme and for their respective future careers?
The MSc in Finance, with its outstanding study programme, the international group of students and professors, the low student-professor ratio and the proximity to the local businesses, is unique in many ways. Hence, grasp each and every of these special opportunities to develop yourself, to get one step closer towards your career goals, or to simply connect with people from all over the world who share similar interests and future careers. Use events such as the After-Work Lectures or the Career Day to enhance your knowledge on certain topics and to network with people from the industry. Ludwig Löhle

TREASURY AT UBS, London

What has been your biggest achievement so far and how does it relate to your completion of the MSc in Finance programme of the University of Liechtenstein?
My biggest success so far has been to move from a regional retail bank to the global leader in wealth management and a top tier investment bank within only two years. Studying in an international and extremely challenging environment was the basis to be well prepared for an international career in banking. The low professor/student ratio is one of the university’s most valuable assets and the key for an extraordinarily steep learning curve.

What piece of advice could you give new students regarding the MSc in Finance programme and for their respective future careers?
Benefit from semester breaks and complete as many internships as possible to build a sustainable network. This in combination with the MSc in Finance degree is the ticket for a smooth post-studies career start. Successfully running through the curriculum requires a significant level of effort and endurance. Always keep in mind: it will pay off!
