First Login
Please use the login information below for your first login in the M365-Portal.
Username: firstname.lastname@uni.li
Password: First letter of first name (capital), first letter of last name (lowercase), your matriculation number, a # sign and the year (for example: Mm153123#2025)
Note on creating your user account:
User accounts will be created once one month before the start of the semester. Thereafter, regularly on Wednesdays & Fridays until start of the new semester.

Multi-Factor-Authentication
Multi-factor authentication is an account security process that requires two or more separate steps to verify the user's identity. This step must be performed once and is mandatory for logging into Citrix and resetting the password. Follow the steps below to set it up.
Installation
Press the corresponding QR code below or scan it with your smartphone to install the Microsoft Authenticator app.

Setup
1) Open the Microsoft 365 Portal in the browser on your smartphone and press Sign in.
2) Enter your email address and press Next.
3) Enter your password and press Sign in.
4) Press Next.
5) If you have installed Microsoft Authenticator as described above, press Next. If you haven't installed Microsoft Authenticator yet, go to Installation.
6) Press Pair your account with the app by clicking this link.
7) In some cases, Microsoft Authenticator opens automatically. If this message appears, press Open.
8) As shown in the picture, there is now an entry with “University of Liechtenstein” and your email address.
9) Go back to the browser and press Next.
10) You will now see a number as shown in the picture.
11) Enter the number displayed in the browser in Microsoft Authenticator and confirm with Yes.
12) Back in the browser, press Next.
13) The registration is now complete. Press Done.
Change Password
Open the M365 portal and press Change Password. In the next window you will be prompted to enter a new password. Please note the password policy below.
Password policy
A password must be at least 10 characters long, and the password must contain characters from at least three of the following four categories:
1) Capital letters (A – Z)
2) Lowercase (a – z)
3) Numbers (0 – 9)
4) Special characters (e.g. !, $, % or &)
The character string of the username or the name of the user must not appear in the password. A password is valid for a maximum of 180 days and can only be changed again after one day at the earliest. The last 24 passwords cannot be reused.
FAQ
Q: My user account doesn’t exist.

Q: I can't log in because I don't have my student ID number.
A: Contact your supervisor.
Q: I can't log in because my password is incorrect.

Q: I can't log in to Moodle or my.uni.li.
A: Make sure you use "firstname.lastname" as your username. If it still doesn't work, please contact the Service Desk by phone.
