Current Activity
Peter Droege leads the team with thirty years of practice, teaching and research in urban design and city planning, winning major international urban design awards. A recipient of the European Solar Prize, his special focus is on resilient, sustainable urbanism, assisting emerging design, planning and development professionals in the building of intelligent life supports, deploying renewable energy, water autonomy and biological design approaches. Since producing the major textbook on space and IT, Intelligent Environments (Elsevier), he has become an influental author and editor of other seminal books on transforming the urban system: "The Renewable City" (Wiley), "Urban Energy Transition" (Elsevier), "100 Percent Renewable" (Taylor & Francis), "Climate Design" (ORO Editions), as well as chapters in the new "Handbook of Architectural Theory" (Sage), "the Encyclopedia of Energy" (Elsevier), and "Sustainable Urbanism and Beyond" (Rizzoli). Professor Droege serves as sustainability innovation advisor to the City of Zurich's Urban Design Department, President of Eurosolar, General Chairman of the World Council for Renewable Energy, and as Selection Committee member of Masdar's Zayed Future Energy Prize.
