This optional module allows for various kinds of research studies. It is closely connected to the five units of the Liechtenstein School of Architecture and is usually part of ongoing research projects. The supervision consists of directing the students towards clear results within a given field of research. The individual study is reviewed within the respective unit.

Liechtenstein's Georg Malin (born 1926) is a true Homo Universalis: sculptor, painter, graphic artist, historian, museum director, archaeologist, lecturer, and politician. In the centenary year of his birth, this individual elective explores the many facets of his work and legacy.

Possible approaches include Malin's sculptural work in relation to Minimal Art, his sacred collaborations from the 1960s onwards in Liechtenstein, Switzerland, and Vorarlberg, as well as his graphic work, stamp designs, and political activities as member of the Landtag (1966-1974) and Minister for the Environment and Culture (1974-1978).
Through his exhibitions, excavations, and work as conservator of the Liechtenstein State Art Collection, Malin shaped the country's cultural and museum landscape. The research semester offers a kaleidoscopic overview of his diverse contribution to Liechtenstein's cultural heritage.

Self-defined design or research studies, developed individually or in groups agreed upon with research units and under the guidance of mentors. The size of the module is determined by the respective unit.

None. It is recommended to complete this course in the third semester. The prerequisite for admission is a subject registration and the approval of the responsible unit. The number of ECTS to be achieved is determined by the unit in the course of the topic approval.

Minimum 75% compulsory attendance, regular meetings with instructors, continuous assessment, portfolio and final review.
The final grade is calculated according to the weighting of the following components: submission (40%) and presentation/participation (60%).
