This course conveys fundamentals to conduct information systems research. The focus is on basic approaches to investigate different kinds of socio-technical phenomena. General strategies to initiate research projects will be introduced. Furthermore, different methods will be discussed to research socio-technical phenomena.

    • apply basic research approaches to new problems
    • compare alternative research approaches, identify similarities and differences
    • determine if /to what extent certain models (i.e. approaches) can be implemented in concrete situations
